Teach ESL with Video
Video is becoming a more and more popular tool in teaching English. With our free video, movie and cartoon worksheets, you can teach perfect video lessons - everything has already been laid out and planned for you, all you need is the movie and a group of learners!
Movies, videos, and cartoons, in addition to songs, can be used for listening activities in the ESL classroom. There are a growing number of worksheets in this section with the current total being 156. One busy teacher created this cartoon worksheet to talk with her students about animals while enjoying a wildly popular film. You might need to adapt the activities a bit for your students but they will definitely enjoy this film. Keep in mind that the speed at which characters talk in movies is probably much faster than the one you use in class so consider having students work in teams to complete certain activities especially when watching full length films.
The most important things to think about when considering these types of activities are the age and level of your students. Your students may have an easy time understanding you in class but listening to these types of media means that they will be challenged. They will not only have to adapt to hearing new voices but also to a faster speed. Young learners may not have the attention span to sit through longer clips while adults might feel like they are a waste of time. Students will learn most effectively when working with suitable material.
At the moment we have got 156 free printable video worksheets (movie, video and cartoon materials). Happy teaching!
